BOO!

Today marks the day when the term "Holidays" gets started! Halloween is special just for the fact you can dress up however you want and nobody will judge you. People welcome kids and parents to come to their home and beg for candy. People pay to get scared by the "boogie" man and we love it! Oh, and you gotta' love scary movies! Nothing makes watching horror movies so fun than around Halloween! And how often do you get to make your house look completely tacky and horrific and it is acceptable?! That's why this time of year is so great! It brings that adrenaline to the surface that we all love to feel! Well, some of us. Anyway, what is the history of Halloween?

Over 2000 years ago the ancient Celts celebrated November 1 as their New Year. These people lived in what is now Ireland, France, Great Britain and believed that this was a time where other souls of the dead traveled into the other world. This celebration was to help the dead move along their journey and keep the living from being affected. This festival was called the Samhain. They would sacrifice animals, vegetables, and fruits to the dead and light bonfires in honor of the dead. Celts would wear animal heads and skins and attempted to tell each other's fortunes.

When the Roman Empire conquered the Celts, Christian missionaries and the Roman Catholic Officials then declared the ritual to be evil. They wanted it to be more Christian - oriented.  Pope Boniface IV proclaimed November 1 to become "All Saints Day" and from this came the term "Halloween".

And there is the basic history of Halloween! Nice to be educated once in awhile!

Happy Halloween!

Lacking the Creativity

As I spent all early afternoon trying to figure this blogging business out I came to the conclusion that it just may not look as fancy shmancy as all the other bloggers out there and that's okay. I'm not here to win the blogging contest on who has the most followers or whose layout is the cutest; I'm just here to type in a white box of all the craziness that goes inside my head! I want to use this as a learning experience for myself and hopefully to others. I figure I have something to post on about what interests me and what I like to learn about.

I spend to much of my time on Facebook reading about what others do and I'm realizing that it's kind of depressing. There's so much negative in the world and I'm ready to focus on the positive! I catch myself being negative sometimes and that's not me. SO, here's to blogging!

I don't really plan on focusing on any certain topic. I will just go with the flow and whatever is on my mind that day may be brought into discussion.

I've recently walked/jogged my first 5K and DID NOT finish last (:
I have a goal to lost 30 pounds by summer. It's just really hard and I LOVE chocolate! I believe nutrition is very important so I want to use this site as some sort of motivation. Something to keep myself focused on and a place where I can store notes.

I think I've ranted enough now. Til' my next blog! Goodnight!

Getting started..

To all the readers of this blog I am new at this.. so please no judging! Lately, I have been constantly worrying myself that I don't know enough about things! Maybe it's a form of anxiety but I drive myself crazy and probably the majority of people too. Anyway, my intention for making this blog is to teach myself something new each day and post about it every week. It will be a variety of different things and what I'm interested in that week. I will make this a learning tool for myself and anyone who may want to be informed! From silly to serious, learning is always good for the mind! As of this very moment at 2:10a.m I have nothing I want to post. Although, I am curious why people are so hype over the iPhone vs. the Droid? Growing as I'm learning is exactly what I intend to do! Sleep good everyone (:
